I often find myself wanting a consolidated list of "all the options".
Not just forums, but software focusing on member to member interaction.

I also dislike how the Social Networking section on TAZ is 99% about existing networks (Facebook/etc) with almost no discussion on scripts we could run ourselves.

Criteria for inclusion:
  • Updated (in any capacity) in prior 12 months.
  • Full English language support.

Link to the list is here.

Lets have some thoughts/feedback.
What have I missed?

If you're going to mention Mastodon, then I'll mention Pleroma and Misskey then. Both social.

Good idea. A few suggestions: Gosora :p, Misago, Orange Forum (ultra light), Spectrum.

https://board.076.ne.jp/#/index | https://git.076.ne.jp/communities/current There is also this but it is currently in development, I know the developer.
Gosora, Misago added.
Orange doesn't meet update criteria.
Spectrum... not sure I want to include SaaS? If my community isn't ever "mine", but just a branch of a cloud of communities...
076 doesn't seem to support English?

Also:
http://fudforum.org/forum/
http://www.yabbforum.com

edit:
Self-hosted social sites would be Diaspora (alternative to Facebook), Mastodon/GNU Social (alternatives to Twitter), twtxt (kind-of alternative to Twitter).
Fud, YaBB, GNU Social & twtxt don't meet update criteria.
Diaspora & Mastodon added.

If you're going to mention Mastodon, then I'll mention Pleroma and Misskey then. Both social.
Added Pleroma & Misskey

Misago is a .org lol

Maybe, you could add the language each one is written in?
Perhaps some more pieces of data to help people to compare the scripts?

Gosora is Go.
Misago is Python.
MyBB / XenForo / SMF / phpBB / Wordpress derivatives / Flarum / Codoforum are PHP.
Spectrum / NodeBB / Misskey /Mastodon are Node.js
Pleroma is Elixir.
AsmBB is Assembly (well, it seems to be part assembly and part C, from the looks of it).
Discourse is Rails aka Ruby.

Fixed Misago.

There are probably 50 different data elements that could be added, but my initial purpose is really awareness. We can add other items like language if there are many requests.

Folks "tech" enough to worry about language are very likely going to have other questions, so, a link for quick access to the official site suits that better in my opinion.

Very nice. This is quite a large list... I'll look through this as I can.
