A tag cloud is a novelty visual representation of text data, typically used to depict keyword metadata on websites, or to visualize free form text. Tags are usually single words, and the importance of each tag is shown with font size or color.
What is the effectiveness of tag clouds? In the past, Google would put higher relevance based on the size of the keyword.

For an exaggerated example: if you made a website and it was just one page with the word CAT as big as you can make it... when the google bot would come around it would be like whoa! this site is important to people who care about "CAT"

So I can only assume that font size still has a degree of bearing on SEO.

I for one have resorted to running a test to increase my SEO for very specific words...

I put a list on the homepage of my site and made sure the font was the biggest on my site.

A few months ago I searched google for all 50 state terms and put the results into a spreadsheet , the new change is a few weeks old now and I will soon check everyone and show the difference in moving up or down. from preliminary testing, it looks like the results are going to be promising :)

What's your opinions about Tag Clouds?
Do you use them?
Are you interested to see the results of my test?

all areas have about the same activity , every market we lost share in i asked the staff to post relevant content in to try to recoup

i believe the areas that have loss had more activity in them outside of my site, like news articles and other happenings that push me out or at least off the first page

my goal is top 3 for every state and i think its totally within our reach

half way through this data was a switch from
xf to ips so im not sure how much of an effect that had either
