If you are a native English speaker fluent in a foreign language, what is translating into English like for you?

It has been time consuming depending on what I was translating. At the end of a translation project that I did for a friend's scholarly work, I felt like he should have paid me, but I didn't ask for payment. It turned out to be more work than I expected. I don't remember if it was 4 pages or 20 pages or what.

I actually did not hate it. It was not painful or painstaking. It was alittle bit like being a stenographer, which is not wonderful, but not bad either.
