Minor vbulletin 5 upgrade, now all post dates are the same

I have a friend that upgraded his vbulletin 5 forum, I think it was only a few 5.1.X version behind the current.

Anyway after the upgrade they see that all the dates are the same and was asking me for any ideas on what would have caused it.

They did have to upgrade the php to run the vb upgrade, would that affect the date on the forum post?

All the post are stuck at "09-27-2015" and then varies times during that day.

Any suggestions on where to look would be appreciated.

The date that's sticking on all post on the forums is about 2.5 months before the upgrade.
I just finished running all the update counter options under "General Update Tools" before making this thread.
Also I see a clear system cache button, I ran that as well.
I try not to mess with vbulletin 5 much, so I'm not sure if a cache setting is elsewhere too.

I just made a new thread, new post and it's still the 09-27-2015 date

Just after I posted that ^ I thought.. I better just check the date option.

Well for this section under admincp > settings > date time

Format For Date
Format in which the date is presented on vBulletin pages:
Examples:
US Format (e.g., 04-25-98): m-d-y
Expanded US Format (e.g., April 25th, 1998): F jS, Y
European Format (e.g., 25-04-98): d-m-y
Expanded European Format (e.g., 25th April 1998): jS F Y

They had 9-27-15...
I change it to m-d-y and everything is good in the world..

Not sure what is causing it?

If I create a new topic it shows the correct date/time for the post.

So it seems there is an issue with the upgrade e.g it is not adding the date/time of posts to the new installation? Although when I check the MySQL database under node for each post is does show a published and modified timestamps. Strange...
