I just compiled this in answer to a PM and thought it might be useful to others as well. The question was about good resources for learning about SEO.
I think Aaron Wall's SEOBook is a pretty good basic SEO primer. Aaron is somebody I respect but he has become a little bitter and rabidly anti-Google lately. Bear that in mind...

As with anything SEO related, bear in mind that a lot of what you read should be considered speculation, although with most of the sources above I think it's fair to say it is informed speculation. My general advice is to read everything with a critical eye, look for evidence supporting or disconfirming what you read, and always remember that SEO tips that may have worked in 2004 may be ineffective or even detrimental today.
