Since Trump's decisive win in the Nevada caucus the overall feeling on television news is that Trump winning the nomination is now inevitable and no longer a cosmic joke. The tide has turned. Trump is looking more mainstream than ever before.

"We're going to get sick of all the winning we'll be doing."

Oh! But it is a joke. It's a joke on the state of the republican party.
Makes me wonder WTF is wrong with Republican people. For Godsake ==> Jeb is a much better & more qualified candidate. Too much name recognition for the party? Cruz - the hypocritical, faux-Christian bigot is a more qualified & better candidate. To much bigfathead face or some such? Marco Rubio is a much more qualified and better candidate! Too much Hispanic for those who seem terrified of the Brownie..? Yet there's an entire populace of Republicans voting for the asshat who's spouting racist ideology as he insults his way to huge wins?! I don't get it. Even Pope Francis has called into question Trump's authenticity (or lack-thereof) of Christian character by saying, ""A person who thinks only about building walls, wherever they may be, and not building bridges, is not Christian." Trump's response? The Pope is "disgraceful"

Unbelievable what the Republican party is supporting. Un-freakin-believable

This Trump thing is pretty impressive.
Kudos to him for such as successful campaign.
It appears he will walk away with the GOP nomination.

It would take him getting caught making child porn to derail him ... and even then he might be able to spin it as a "Jobs Creation for Youth". The guy has the gift of the gab.

But predicting the usual GOP failure in the General election is usually easy.
All the things that make Republicans popular to their base, make them unpalatable to swing voters.
As well, there aren't enough old white guys left in America to get a Republican elected (the poor, blacks and the increasing number of Hispanic voters is the trend). Essentially the numbers just dont add up for the GOP ... you could get your whole base out to vote ... but the smaller base is going to get you every time.

Not so fast.

To me the only way for the GOP to realize they need to change their policies was another loss in 2016. By change I mean they needed to EXPAND their base to more potential voters and two most obvious ways were ... friendlier immigration policies or more taxes on the rich. I figured both would not happen in 2016 and a "lame duck" candidate like Hillary would easily get in. (if you love her work ... you still must admit .. she's just not a charismatic or popular politician).

And then Trump says stuff like this. Tax the rich more ? Reduce taxes on the middle class ? Single payer Healthcare ?

If he actually outlines a "Tax the Rich more" policy that swing voters could believe in ... he could actually be the next president. Amazing really.

How Trump wins:
- effective fear mongering about ISIS / Muslims.
- outlines a Tax plan that seriously "Taxes the rich more". (I'll believe it when I see it).
- he's allowed to just "Promise, Promise, Promise" whatever he wants ... with no actual plans outlined. (ie. I'm going to stop all Muslims from coming into our country ... with no actual plan demanded).
- Trump brands himself as a self funded entrepreneur and Hillary as a "bought" candidate that will bend over backward to Wall Street.
- people feel he is the change candidate.
- Low turnout at the polls.

How Hillary wins:
- Trump is painted as "just another Republican" and people don't believe he'll Tax the Rich more.
- Trump is branded just too "out there" to be the POTUS. Hillary is safer.
- Hillary gets the Women's vote (seems to never happen, mind you).
- Americans, as usual, just don't change their "usual" vote.
- High turnout at the polls.

Should be interesting.
I can see a way Trump wins the General Election. Is it likely ? Probably not. But I think it's going to be a DOG fight.
I can't call this one yet. Trump is just too unpredictable.

The Democrats already set a precedent with a person who was good at hollow slogans, flip flopped all his positions, is vain and overly concerned with his own image, doesn't work well with others and a questionable background. Seeing that people lined up like clueless morons to elect Obama, they could just as easily line up like clueless morons to elect Trump. Both play the class warfare game (though Obama is more overt about it).

It's scary, on the one side Trump is the likely candidate - not because he holds the majority of the Republican vote (far from it) - but rather because there are so many choices splitting up the vote. He appeals to low information voters.

On the other side a liar in the pockets of the banks, who sold out our national security in order to have her own private email server, or an avowed socialist who plays to the crowd who likes social programs so long as someone else is paying for it. They both appeal to low information voters.

friendlier immigration policies

Trump is so popular because he's finally appealing to the base that is tired of illegal immigration. The mass media driven lie that he is racist was debunked in Nevada where he got almost 50% of the Hispanic vote. The truth is hard working law abiding Hispanics don't like illegals coming into this country either. Come legally or not at all.

Before someone talks about the first settlers, there was no law and they secured their land by war. If illegals want to go to war, bring it on.

He appeals to low information voters.
That simply isn't true. He leads by educated voters as well as poorly educated. He has broad support from most groups no matter how you slice it besides African Americans which overwhelmingly vote Democrat, the party that was for slavery and against equal rights.

I said nothing of their education.

Since many of his remarks about the things he will do run contrary to what powers a president actually has under the Constitution... they certainly aren't voters who are well informed about the US Constitution, presidential powers or how our government framework operates. Then again, look at Obama.... clear indication many people don't give a rats ass about the Constitution.

I doubt he butts heads.
He'll pretend to raise taxes .... it'll be shot down in Congress.
He'll pretend to improve healthcare. same deal.
He'll shrug his shoulders and let Congress run the show.

The American system of governing is broken.
Too many checks and balances.
You need a Parlimentary Democracy. It's much better at getting stuff done.

Absurd.

Too much "getting stuff done" is why we have so many laws on the books that the average person commits felonies without even knowing it, and an over-sized, bloated bureaucracy. We need many things "undone".

That is NOT Trump's style. He also isn't as conservative as he's playing right now. If he wins, He'll be more centrist, and if the Repub Congress blocks him, (which I am sure they will) he'll berate them endlessly, just like he does on the campaign trail.
