Hire or do it myself?

AdminZone Team,

I've created many wordpress sites, some ecommerce, some with Affiliate plugins, some with LMS. I tell you all of that to tell you that that is the peak of my technical ability.

If I use a plug and play solution like vBulletin or Xenforo, do I even need to hire someone? Are the tools are user-friendly as Wordpress through Godaddy?

I'm just getting started; sorry for the redundancy.

If you need wordpress-style ease of modding (no ftp, uploading things yourself or fiddling with permisions and manual edits), woltlab and now IPB since 4.5 allow you to install addons from the confort of the adminCP, and update them just as easily as click here for and it's done - for both addons and the official software. vbulletin and xenforo arent quite there (yet?), and unlike wotlab and IPS dont review addon submissions or updates to their addon repositories and defer all responsibility to their creator.

XenForo installation is pretty straightforward. If you can upload files, create a database, you should be able to install it on your own. There are guides out there to help with this I believe. XenForo offers an official service to install this for you (at a premium).

Once it's installed, it's pretty easy to install any modification you want, simply download the zip of your choice and upload it into the admin panel. With 2.2 XenForo introduced assets that allow you to upload most things you'll need inside the admin panel (logo, favicon, header background image). Upgrading XenForo can be down with a click of a button along with their official add-ons. Third-party plugins you simply download the zip and upload it into the admin panel.

Sounds just like WordPress. That's great news.

Invision offers a 14 day demo. Excellent. I'm messing around with it now.

Thanks again!
