Makes me wonder if somewhere down the line they will have a forum search... maybe we missed that by a few years since the trend has moved from forums to blogs so to speak.

That would be nice. I have a blog in addition to my forum and its great to have this extra service - especially because my blog gets indexed extremely well.

The google blog search actually searches RSS feeds. If you have a feed on your forum and you let google discover it (maybe with a sitemap), I don't see why it wouldn't come up in the blog search.

True. And as a matter of fact some forums are indeed found by google in the blogsearch (which is kindof awkward, isn't it?). I wonder if them make any attempts to counter that.
