In MyBB if you need to install a mod, you need to download it, unzip it and upload via FTP, then you have to activate it through AdminCP. But in SMF it is just like using attachment feature in Gmail. Simply browse to the zip file you download and click the install button, same goes with installing themes. Check Dzinerstudio, Files4Design, Crip and SMF Simple. You will find some good themes.

Okay, so is this difficult to do? And what is FTP?

It's fairly easy. You upload the mod files and then install them via the ACP. FTP is file transfer protocol. Usually used as a software layer to connect remotely from your computer to your file server. Here's a decent video on how to install plugins.

The most simplest forums software seems to be MyBB as everything is hands-on easy to edit and very simple to customize and configure.
