Hey guys, The last few days I've noticed some disturbing ad placements showing up on my site, that I did not sign up for, or opt into, or anything. Wondering if anyone else is experiencing this sort of "hijacking" of their content and where it might be coming from. I have pored over both my Adsense and Ezoic settings and I can find nowhere that mentions this, and noplace to turn it off.

Here's the crux of it: The bottom 1/5 of the big image is covered up. Wouldn't be a huge deal, IF I had wanted it there. But I didn't.

But the big one that has my blood pressure up this morning, the "Dr. Pepper" ad on the right sidebar, is COVERING UP MY OWN INTERNAL AD for my 2021 calendars. This is totally unacceptable. I fired off an email to ezoic support essentially saying that, and hoping they can give some insight into where this crap is coming from.

What about you guys? This happening to anyone else? Any idea where the source of this is and how to turn it off?

#%&@#$^& and now I find its covering up images/attachments inside threads, AND people's images in their signatures. JFC I'm gonna have users out for blood if this keeps up :wow:

That image of the chick falling out of the car was COMPLETELY COVERED by a video ad, I couldn't get the screenshot in time.... :rant2: šŸ˜”

Ha, caught it. This is what I first see when I reload this page/post. The same images.

OK, so I think we found the source and have it reported to ezoic. Watch out for "GumGum" and their "advanced image recognition technology" which seems to be "hey there's an <img> tag in a certain aspect ratio that we can inject an ad onto!!"

Confirmed it was this GumGum's tech doing it. Apparently Ezoic was "testing" it out and didn't realize it would jump out of the spaces it was loaded into. They've nixed it from showing on my sites, but I don't know if it could show up elsewhere. Thanks to the Ezoic support team for checking it out.

Yeah, Ezoic are known for this behavior. Perhaps it wasn't completely them this time but they often inject a bunch of ads into the page to increase revenue. Their "AI" system has worked out that more ads = more revenue. This is why they try to get pubs to focus on revenue per page instead of CPM because this tactic brings their CPMs down a lot

On a somewhat related issue, I had an ISP (in the US) inject (what they perceived as) 'important' notifications into webpages I'd be browsing. An interesting approach shall we say. Most unwelcome.

I also noticed this issue on some other sites. I don't understand why they are so intrusive.
