Vinton Cerf and Robert Kahn for pioneering work on internetworking, including the design and implementation of the Internet's basic communications protocols, TCP/IP, and for inspired leadership in networking.


Introductions were by Eduardo D. Glandt, Dean of Penn's School of Engineering and Applied Science and David Patterson, ACM President.

I might add for those just learning about the ACM that Mr. Patterson provided a short but descriptive explanation about the ACM before he introduced the two Turing Award winners for 2004.
