Hi.

I received this morning an email from OVH saying that:

"We would like to inform you that your hosting service status has changed to
"DESACTIVE".
This means that it is no longer operational.

The reason for this change of status is as follows:

Detected as sending "too much spam emails in the last hour" by our outgoing antispam mail gateways (202 spam emails sent in the last 1 hour(s))"

And as far as I know none of emails has been sent from my ovh email.

Has anyone received such of emails from OVH?
Thanks.

Do you use a 3rd party such as SendGrid, Mailgun, or AWS for example to handle transactional emails?

The issue was because of What’s new Digest addon, and I had my contact email there .

Depending on what platform that's on, that would still be considered and sent via transactional.

What platform are we talking about here, also what version?

XenForo 1.x series I'd recommend an addon such as [bd]Mail that a number of folks use, but now it's mostly built in to the 2.x series.

You could use a service like SendGrid to help out with transactional delivery, they do offer a free package if you qualify.

You could also leverage using Threadloom Newsletters, which would handle spam, bounces, etc which includes 25k free newsletter sends every month. You can see via a dashboard your bounces, open, and click thru rates of your newsletter. However, you would want to pair this with a provider to handle your password resets, and other basic transactional needs.

To fully offload transactional emails from your servers and being placed on a spam warning again, you need to use a 3rd party provider such as Sendgrid, AWS SES or other.

As I've mentioned previously Sendgrid offers a free tier if you qualify, I believe 40k emails. AWS SES for example, is rather cheap, alas not free.

This is disgusting behaviour by a webhost
They cannot (should not) just cut you off like that
Sure they could stop sending email
Or give you a warning
But to "Desactive" you is appalling
My Webhost has done simalar things to me

Who do these web host sites think they are>
We spend much sweat and toil building up a forum and then they can destroy it in 5 seconds.

I think that was a warning. But they can stop my forum because of that?
