I don't have him on Facebook (I rarely use it myself), but apparently he isn't. Though the account he's added people on apparently only seems to have other members of the MyBB team on, so I assume it's a private account (if there is such a thing).

(and I think you meant "coincidence" ;))

That is still the case. The staff member in question seems to have dropped off the face of the earth, he's banned on MyBB, and another forum he was an administrator of. We've contacted him via Skype, email and Facebook with no response, which is quite worrying.

Twitter are not responding to any communications that we send. We've tried tweeting them (Twitter) and emailing them, but have had no response at all. Very poor form on their part.
What if they went on MyBB, saw the banned message when they logged in and just rage quitted?

I doubt they would of done, seeing as they have been sent messages via various forms, and the ban message explained the situation (in MyBB, when you get banned you can set a reason to be shown to the user).

I feel for MyBB having to go through all of this. I want to say I remember MyBB once hiring a third-party service to do a security audit on the software, course that was versions ago back when I still used them but what happened with that?

I can't remember fully, but that was likely 1.4. There have been a lot of changes since then, and the audit only covered the code, not how staff members acted or the infrastructure as far as I know. I wasn't a part of the team back then, and was using vBulletin 3, with MyBB being played with as a possible replacement for vB4 (a choice I did eventually make).

Yeah 1.4 sounds about right. That is about when I left due to myself and your resident negative nancy getting into it lol. MyBB seems to be a target lately though... It makes me wonder if something in terms of aggressive competition is going on...but maybe that is just me being paranoid :p

Ah yes, I got into it with Brad a few times back then when I first joined too ;) I doubt it's anything like that, I tend to find that we have quite good relationships, given we're competitors (unless you happen to work for IB, in which case everybody seems to hate you...). At the end of the day, we're all developers with common goals and working on similar projects.

Yep that would be him. I guess every forum software needs their negative participant though, its no big deal to me. Anymore, I just stick with XF and IPB mainly because of the comfort of knowing they will continue to release new updates since they are getting paid and all.

It should be very easy to get back if you have access to the original email that was in place before the "hack" happen..
It may take Twitter a few days but I was able to get my account back in less then a week. I think it was actually closer to 4 days.

I'm sure if a simple person like myself can gain access to my compromised twitter account, a well known forum developer should be able to get access to their account if they contacted them on the first day like I suggested when I first read this thread. :)
Twitter probably doesn't even know that MyBB exists. Maybe, you were just lucky?
