MyBB 1.8 themes

I haven't been around forums for a while now.
I have recently installed MyBB 1.8 on my general discussion community forum.

But I am struggling to find a nice, neat, simple light theme for my general dicussion forum for MyBB 1.8
I have only seen at least six 6 MyBB 1.8 themes and they seem to be newbie themes.

What should I do about this? MyBB 1.8 custom themes cost a lot to be honest.
I would rather go with a free theme then work my way up with the community on my forum.

I actually used Dynaxel for my theme when I used MyBB. He's easily the best MyBB theme designer (in my opinion), and if he done XenForo I'd love to purchase from him again. He's a great dude, and after using lots of other designers he was my favourite. I mean, I recommend throwing a bit of money on it. He goes from cheap prices to higher, and remember, it's CAD, so in USD it's even cheaper.

Thanks Robust but I am looking for a nice looking light MyBB 1.8 theme for now, free.
I'll work my way up with a paid theme once I get a community together.

MyBB has always lacked in themes sadly.

I put a massive amount of work into MyBB when I ran it, changing the theme and more less totally redoing the Portal. Way too much work in fact!

If you struggle that much, why not make an effort to learn how to theme? I've created a theme for MyBB once http://mods.mybb.com/view/newbieblue and I am horrible at theme creations but 8 people apparently downloaded it

There isn't much selection at the moment. I grabbed a couple free themes made by iAndrew and edited them into uniqueness. I am happy with results.

What type of theme though Shawn Gossman simple theme or more of an advanced theme?

Yeah looks nice, Fluid looks a bit big though.
I have a 23 inch monitor and it's taking pretty much the whole screen.
