At this rate it may be just as long as that other topic where people are fighting over the "crowdfunding" drama.

I gave you creative because it is new and I just noticed it. Also there was not a  one

Oh! This is a wee bit off topic. But you know what would be sweetness??

If the Post Ratings modification compiled a comprehensive list of say the last 100 ratings received & given. For instance - the numbers in the screencap above become clickable links that opens the comprehensive list, which would be a list of the actual posts that were liked and the user who honored you with the rating. That'd be a nice functionality addition to Post Ratings imo. This way - you can see who the hell hates you and/or your posts. LMAO

I've suggested that before. It never got done though, so I did it myself by creating an add-on that extended that add-on. I'll have to see if I still have it somewhere and see if The Sandman would be interested in it.

Oooooooooooo! Oh. I was gonna suggest releasing the extended version on XF.com or here. Because the Post Ratings IS a premium add-on though, I'm not sure how well that would go over with Luke Foreman. Hmmm - I'm sure it wouldn't go over well at all actually LOL --- I'm surprised noone has actually made the suggestion at XF.com though - It seems a no-brainer type of enhancement if you ask me...

As far as I know there shouldn't be an issue with it, since it wouldn't be releasing anything from that add-on, and (at least in my opinion) would be similar (legality wise) to creating an add-on for XenForo. Though I may be wrong.

My suggestion a while back on this add-on:

So... the Best Posts add-on has came out, met with mixed reviews and ideas of if it works great for what it is, how useful it is, etc... Personally, I think he missed a great opportunity to expand on his base of Post Ratings, and I think he could easily offer an Extended add-on to couple with Post Ratings.

My ideas...

1. Have a "Post Ratings" tab to optionally display. Or call it Post Statistics, whatever it may be, doesn't necessarily matter, can always be changed in phrases.

Now, once clicking on that, comes up like your Members Page. Tabs along the top, info under the name, etc.. The tabs will now be all the titles of each Post Rating you have... Like, Dislike, Agree, Disagree, etc...

Now, instead of the number on the right being Posts, why not have the total number of Likes that member has, for a Leaderboard?

As you click on each tab, obviously it will change to represent the leader of each. Possibly have options to display how many members you want. Top 10 might be a good place to start for each.

Now that all of that work is done.. next phase...

Sidebar widgets...

Easily replicate the above on a smaller scale. Could actually have whatever the icon is too...

Something like:

Or, you could list the Top 5 briefly for whatever you'd want listed.

Could also have a new area right above the Post Ratings Bar and total ratings on your profile page to show if you are leading in any categories... Like...

Normally, would be something like...
Screenshot_19.png

Could easily expand on that, make it it's own block even, show the ranking you are in each area... using Lisa as an example, not sure on exact amounts obviously or true rank... heh.

-- Just wanted to expand somewhat on some of the things that I feel are missing from Post Ratings. I personally wouldn't mind throwin' down an extra $10 or so per copy for this extension...

Anyone else have any other thoughts, ideas? Maybe an idea as to how to push Luke into adding onto this? :p:LOL:

Sounds like a bit of grey area actually.
Maybe reach out to Luke Foreman or one of the XF.com moderators and see if they'd allow such an add-on share.
I think it'd be received quite nicely by the XF community anyway. Cheers

I think in his case it may be the latter ;)

I'll likely do that (if I even still have it). Though, I think XF staff's opinion on it is slightly irrelevant, I'll probably just check with Luke

Just suggesting that you cover your bases. I certainly don't want one of my suggestions landing anyone in trouble.

Now now...let's not turn this into something its not. No more further bashing members please.

The question to remain on topic is whether members find the drama queen help/hurtful. Now I'd like to know, is anyone actually wanting this vote to be removed or just complaining because it seems like a negative rating?

The problem is, if there is a problem, and even then I'll refer back to my daughter's 'care cup', pixels have no intonation. If someone calls me a drama queen to my face, I can tell immediately if they are being friendly or hurtful. When it's said with pixels I can only guess at the intent and that's what eats away at some users who care. For those that do, and I suspect there are actually a lot that do, it can cause problems which might inject a fair amount of negativity into the forum.

Would I remove the 'neutral ratings'? Probably not but if I'm honest I might not have introduced them in the first place <-- I'm going for popcorn here btw :p:D

Back on topic, my feeling is that the ratings are good but there's no doubt that for some people they will be offended, in an online forum manner, by being called a drama queen just because they feel passionate about something. I think as a status it has the power to reduce someone's serious concerns to that of just being a "drama queen". There is an school of thought that you should either give something a positive rating or don't rate it at all. I guess "meh" should be considered the same as, again, it could be seen as a cheap and easy way to dismiss someone's genunine concerns about something. zappaDPJ tagged as this is some actual feedback for you :)

Wow... after the pages we get an actual post discussing the reasoning why the DQ rating might be an issue! *faints* (not directed at you, just nice to see a post that actually gets to the point instead of going "wah wah wah" :D - I'm sure there are a few more buried amongst the yelling somewhere that I could find if I dug through)

Okay.. now I've had my little dig as well - what? Everyone else was bickering, it was my turn :p

I think an option that should get some consideration (other than Sheldon's proposed expansion of the Post Rating system which I've adored since the first time he wrote it and it really needs to become reality!) is having specific ratings relating to specific forums - keep some of the "funny stuff" to the off-topic forums and adapt others for use within the on-topic ones. Instead of having,, say, Drama Queen within the on-topic, we go with something that possibly has a similar meaning but sounds more professional (if that's at all possible) - the reason I say keeping something similar is that I firmly believe people have the right to say when they think someone is being OTT or whining for no real reason.

The To-Do list gets longer every day!

I work on the principal that if I post enough times the probability of me saying something useful is bound to increase :D

I've just found my add-on. I sent a message to Luke Foreman over at xf.com to see if it's cool to release it though.
