Chrome based Opera is the real Opera. If you're referring to the Presto Engine Opera, mainstream support for that ceased long ago. There's only minor security fixes being published now. There's always vocal critics like some in this thread. I simply ignore the comments calling for torches and spears. It gets old after a while.

Let's not turn this thread into another "I hate XenForo so much because it's such-and-such," as the last one left a bad taste in everyone's mouth. We could always shut down the online version of TAZ down and start a letter writing pen-pals program. That's a joke in case some of you think I'm being serious.

As TAZ doesn't use a lot of bells and whistles regarding addons, like points and stuff like that, it will probably work just as well on XF, and for that reason is probably the cheaper option.

I just don't like the big fat lumpy feel and look of XF forums, but I'm open minded, lets see what it looks like.

What made you change your mind?

I saw that vB had (has) no one working on it (I think it was PaulM who said so), no one could (can) give a decent estimation of when IPS4 would be released and I needed a forum script so I decided to give XF a chance. By "I decided to give XF a chance" I don't mean that I just woke up one day and purchased a license to use the script, I read what others had to say about it, looked at all of the available resources, etc.

Would have been nice to see TAZ on Burning Board.

I agree. Burning board would have been interesting to see. That said, I'm not expecting much different as is when we get to xf compared to competitor admin forums. I don't expect anything bad but I don't expect anything unique or different. But i am ready for the upgrade.

I don't think it would have been wise to deploy it for a big board essentially untested for aftermath (like SEO, url changes, user acceptance, commercial addons not available for BB or of quality not matching those produced for other ecosystems, and other).

Smaller hobbyist forums may be more appropriate deployments where one can dare be bold with little need to fear irreversible consequences.

We have to be either on IPB or Xenforo. Not because I am partial to it, but these two are widely used globally and would need support. So having one of them on board will be an advantage. We can show them how well it can be set up. Considering IPB4 is nowhere near, it is wise to avoid extra work and go with the other option.

I used to think that XF sucked too but have since changed my mind and purchased a license. There is no way in h&ll I would ever go back to using any version of vB now :) I can't wait to see TAZ running that awesome script :D

My second choice for TAZ if were in charge of making the decision would be IPS.

What forum are you using the licence for ?

Gotta say, you picked a day to update TAZ when the World Cup matches start.

Don't think America massively cares about that.

Yeah, I know, they like American football and Baseball. Soccer isn't their sport, not like it is to us in the UK. Which is like Super Bowl is to them, like the World Cup is to us.
