At least they did not make my CPU% fly into space because they did not try to load several megabytes of JavaScript web**** into my browser.

There are some things that should be consigned to history, never to be repeated, and this might be one of them

Sometimes songs say it best.

Those were the days of our lives, yeah
The bad things in life were so few
Those days are all gone now but one thing's still true
When I look and I find
I still love you

Talk about a blast from the past. I remember when forums looked like this LOL
Hilariously I actuslly used them for a brief time for a retro site lmso but with extra charges for a subdomain/domain the costs would have added up too much and by then I already had GZ.

It says "Hosting private message boards since 1996" should say "Using the same message board since 1996" LOL
Back in the early and mid-90s, I ran a MajorBBS bulletin board system (BBS) called Citicom. 20 telephone lines coming into a duplex unit where I lived with a mix of 33.6 and 56K modems for users to connect. Then the internet/AOL got big and the rest was history.

You got mail! I remember that and was even featured in an Austin Powers movie or 2.

Remember the AOL CDs in the grocery store isles? :ROFLMAO:

I remember legit bulletin board systems!
Those discs were EVERYWHERE. Once they stumbled on the fact that freezing didn't harm the discs, they were even packing them with Omaha steaks at one point. They were great for constantly signing up for free trials :D

I remember the "free" floppy discs that sent too. Great for back-ups or taking a computer class at the time!

I bet if you covered a large desert area in those AOL disks, the reflective surface would send enough sunlight and heat back into space that we'd temporarily fix climate change! :p

Hello, today's serverless microservice wizz kids and bigboarders. This was you then.

The ecosystem adopting CSS stylesheets took forever, until then it was direct editing html and whatever predated stylesheets that came with frontpage express and dreamweaver's predecessor...

I'm embarrassed to say I STILL have a couple of them. And I also found one of the cards I was using for the BBS. (no I'm not a hoarder)

I would throw out the AOL CD and save the tin to hold CDs I burned for others.
