Hilariously I actuslly used them for a brief time for a retro site lmso but with extra charges for a subdomain/domain the costs would have added up too much and by then I already had GZ.

Back in the early and mid-90s, I ran a MajorBBS bulletin board system (BBS) called Citicom. 20 telephone lines coming into a duplex unit where I lived with a mix of 33.6 and 56K modems for users to connect. Then the internet/AOL got big and the rest was history.

Haha hell yeah. My favorite part of AOL were the chat rooms and being able to punt people through the instant messenger haha. Good times.

I remember legit bulletin board systems!

Those discs were EVERYWHERE. Once they stumbled on the fact that freezing didn't harm the discs, they were even packing them with Omaha steaks at one point. They were great for constantly signing up for free trials

I bet if you covered a large desert area in those AOL disks, the reflective surface would send enough sunlight and heat back into space that we'd temporarily fix climate change!

I'm embarrassed to say I STILL have a couple of them. And I also found one of the cards I was using for the BBS. (no I'm not a hoarder)

I would throw out the AOL CD and save the tin to hold CDs I burned for others.
