If you want to try out the app for yourself, it's now available in the iOS store (Android coming very soon).

The multi-community app is also available very soon, this is where if you're running Invision Community 4.5, you can add your site to be listed and encourage your members to download and use it.

Let me know what you think!

Downloaded and looking at it. The first things i notice is that the screen can not rotate so you are always in portrait mode. But the main drawback of this is that when you charge your device (ipad) you cant let it rest on something, because down is always where your charger is connecte. Also sometime landscape can have a better view think gallery. If i want to switch from blog to forum i first need to press home button then press forum button. What i’m unable to find is the option to goto the marketplace so there is now a section i cant visit. The layout is simple and to the point and works fast.

Testing it. It took 7 seconds the app to open. Hope this to be fixed when fully released

The current Android version is terribly slow as well. From push notification to opening the content for which I am notified, the display on my phone actually turns off as it is a long period of inactivity.

They have literally stated in the post show casing the app and unvieling it that at first it will only have a few features and they will add more over time as this isn't a finished product.

Most people know its just for testing and not yet complete, but if we do not give feedback they do not know what to fix or improve.

Features, yeah. But we are talking about performance
Have no any iOS device to try it out, so I'm waiting the Android version, but I found the chance to congratulate IPS for the continuing effort to improve it by adding new (modern) features. Keep up the good work. Expensive but it deserves even the single cent.
Android version is available, in fact it was updated last week

Can I add my own site app in App Stores with IPB without the “multi community” format or I have to give the official app just for then enter in my site?

Like this: I migrate to IPS and launch my site and in the day one, can I have my own site app or I have the use one app to rule then all?

Sorry about the question, but I was thinking on a more brand app feature, like my site app.

Many of us had the same question. The answer is that it might be possible eventually, but it will definitely not be cheap.

For now, the "one app to rule them all".

There are plans - but no timeline yet - to offer a unique app service for a cost.

Given this a quick whirl on iPad. Looks promising. Seems reasonably quick to me, I can't say there was much delay except a pause to pull in new content. As above will be interesting to see how other communities fit into all this - as apps or as part of one big app. Also I wonder if there will be significantly more restrictive terms on forums using this - to fit in with Apple's T&C for example - I can see the subject matter of some forums not being to Apple's liking. And if someone donates to my forum would Apple take 30%? So many questions!

vBulletin's Mobile Suite provides a custom app but it requires the forum owner to submit their app to the app stores. This in means you need accounts with the app providers along with access to the required hardware. In addition the app needs to be rebuilt and resubmitted for each update, the updates in the case of vBulletin's product being fairly frequent.

If you can meet all those requirements the biggest problem seems to be what to do when Apple rejects the app you've submitted which happens a lot. It's also my understanding that Apple require a separate account for each app which implies that the app developer cannot submit an app on your behalf.

In short, there may well be some prohibitive financial costs (Apple hardware doesn't come cheap) and hurdles to jump in order to run a custom app.

Hi all, thanks for the feedback.

We're aware that it's slow on some Android handsets, we're working on this.

It's a beta, so it's a foundation for us to build on quickly. The hardest part is now done.

The free app is a multi-community app, so you submit your site to us, we approve it and it's discoverable in the app. Obviously adult sites or sites that do not pass Apple's T&C cannot be listed.

We do plan on a 'white label' app at some point which is an app for just your community but there are hurdles to overcome. As Zappa points out, you need a separate app dev account and work through Apple's approval process which out and out rejects "template" style apps. We have it all figured out, but first we want to get this app over the line.

We just released beta 5, which adds the mobile app stuff back in, so you can now submit your site to us and upon approval, it'll appear in the app and you can start getting your members to use it.

Looking forward to the white label as we have a white label from Tapatalk so we would ideally need a way to move across (its on our own app store account) as they use their own version numbers.

ForumApps is inspired! Would love to learn more about how you’re rendering BBCodes in React! We had to engineer a solution to make it go from few seconds to few milliseconds.

Invision Community stores everything as HTML, so the mobile app doesn't have to think about BBCode.
