I've been administering a XF forum for the last 5 years - it's going very well, and I also monitor/respond to social media things for the same company. It's a paid, part-time position.

Nothing lasts forever and it occurs to me that, should I either choose to leave or be asked to leave, I have absolutely no idea about how to look for a similar job. I should add that almost everything I've done in my life has come through word of mouth so I am inexperienced at job hunting in general.

How does one go about finding a position administering a forum in 2020?

Thanks in advance for your replies.

I think finding corporate community gigs on forum and similar software would be one way.

There are professional community management organizations like CMX where people regularly post professional jobs in community management. Those are for major enterprises, tech startups, and companies (I've seen recent job postings for Fitbit, Google, etc).

You can also post in your forum provider. There are always webmasters who can use strategic assistance.

If you're looking for a part time gig, you can certainly search on TheAdminZone or other admin hobbyist sites for jobs but they tend to pay more with enthusiasm and passion than actual money.
