I have been out of the game for a while so please forgive me but do people still use vBulletin Mobile Suite ? or does everyone just use the built-in mobile theme for their forum? I remember buying it back in the day and I just logged in and it still there. I just wanted to see what's the norm. thanks for your reply

It's still there. It was recently upgraded to the 2.x series. It's worth taking a look at if you already have the license IMO.

That and a lot of patience. Getting the app past Apple's central scrutiniser can be quite taxing. Things would be so much better if the app was native to the software.

Well it requires a developer account assuming you want to upload the app to that service. For example if you only wanted the Android app you'd only need a Google developer account. But yes if you want to publish the iOS app you still need an Apple account.

If you want a custom and branded app the only way to do it is individual apps, the way it is being done. While I'm not against a s general app that could be enabled for any forum that wanted to allow it there is no way to customize a single app for all the different sites. That said the mobile app isn't nearly as important these days with the excellent Responsive Designs of most modern forums including VB5.

The problem with a responsive design over an app is it doesn't give the same level of interaction that a lot of people now take for granted. Push notification is expected, hence the continued success of Tapatalk. Branding is certainly an issue for owners but I'd argue it has to be balanced with user engagement.

I personally hate push notifications, but I can see why some people might want them.

I find them either very useful or something to turn off, depending on which app and contact they are coming from. Getting multiple, middle of the night notifications that I need to make a routine dental appointment is something I could have certainly done without :censored:
