Would say reddit, but I am using LinkedIn more often these days for professional reasons.

Reddit, I use frequently - as it has a large user base and lots, if not all the topics you can think of on there for discussion.

It seems to me that Facebook is in sharp decline insofar none of the hundreds of people I know who used to post to groups do so any more. A lot of people including family members seemed to have ditched Facebook in favour of Whatsapp, something I use myself despite me being very anti- social media. LinkedIn seems to be essential for workers, especially people looking for better prospects.

I dislike Facebook the most, but it is by far the most popular among my niche. As in, all others are nearly non-existent. Instagram is frustrating because of its emphasis on visual and mobile. I appreciate a well-worded post and prefer something desktop or laptop friendly. No experience with Whatsapp. I land on reddit occasionally when searching a subject. Linkedin is growing on me. Posts are generally more interesting to me and more directed toward business ops rather than personal/family. I appreciate twitter the most, and of course it's the least used among my niche. Most of my posts are dual on facebook and twitter. I get lots of traction on facebook and rarely ever get a response of any king on twitter. My likes are most always contrary to the majority. Never have figured out why.

A year later and WhatsApp's simple functionality has proved a winner for me. Being able to send large images at no cost is a big bonus. Linkedin which I recently joined under protest has provided some unexpected work opportunities.

Somewhat reluctantly I'll admit I'm starting to see benefits from social media but I'll always dislike Facebook with a passion :D

I really dont "like" any of them. At all. In particular any that extend past picture sharing.

They provide too much of an opportunity for keyboard warriors, this has real consequences for a lot of people. If people could learn to use them with a bit of respect, they would be a fantastic idea.
I think its all too evident with the recent and upcoming changes to Facebook. Its feeling the brunt of being held to account at all levels and having to essentially reverse how its allowed users to behave over the last decade. Shock horror.

I do have involvement with it for my forums group administration, if it wasn't for that I would probably leave the lot.

I agree. Social platforms have reached a level of toxicity that's becoming quite worrying. What I find perplexing is some heavily moderated forums are the same while others are filled with content no different to an engaging real world conversation but with no moderation required.

How is that one group of people can treat each other with respect while the other with total disdain?

This is exactly what I prefer about instagram.

There's little to no opportunity for commentary, you share pictures and get instant gratification.

Linked in is, if i were to have one, my preference. It has interesting, well constructed and intelligent posts. None of this clickbait meme BS you see everywhere.

I like the engagement of Twitter, but it needs to change its advertising structure to make it long term.
