The most important thing is having valuable, well-written content. If you're using any decently popular software, it will likely already be fine in terms of its optimization. I mention popular simply because there may be some obscure, poorly coded ones that won't help your cause — but I honestly doubt there are many out there where the software itself will hold your site back.

Google loves authoritative articles; if you're writing about a particular topic, go in depth and really delve into that topic. But don't be redundant to where you're giving visitors information that doesn't matter or write in circles. 2,000-5,000 word articles will hit the front page of Google my from experience. Less words can as well, depending on how many articles on other sites are in direct competition for those keywords.

I think "SEO" is something 90% of people don't need to worry about. Don't worry about having the perfect article title, don't worry about meta keywords (which are essentially useless to SEO), don't worry about anything other than writing content for your site. There are really no tricks to getting ranked other than writing superb content that people are willing to share across social media.

If you can't write a better article than your competitor, you're not going to rank higher than them by utilizing "SEO tactics."

Adding some more points to Tecca,

After publishing good content, your published page will be come to Google's page 4 to 7 ( If you optimized properly & keyword has moderate competition). This will take at least two days. If you want to bring it on google's first page, you need to put some more effort. Build a quality backlinks for those pages. If you don't have enough bandwidth to do that, hire link building agency

I am a Yoast SEO WordPress Plugin user. These guys at Yoast also make the above information available as reference within their WordPress plugin. There are many things I learned from them. But it was little by little that I was able to find the time to explore the SEO world that was presented to me through their plugin.

More recently, I came across another WordPress plugin called Squirrly SEO 2018 (Briefcase). Just as in the case of Yoast, the people at Squirrly are providing much by way of information about SEO applicable way beyond the WordPress universe. The Squirrly WordPress plug-in and people helped me better understand the importance and the outworking of some of the functionalities integrated within Yoast, especially about the writing of articles with keywords. Their approach being different, having first grasped whatever I could from Yoast, Squirrly took me one step further. I documented my findings in SEO and Content Promotion. Most of what they publish for their users seems to be publicly available through their web sites, as my notes about it will show you.

Yeah tried all these tips but still struggling to rank my post, Dont know what went wrong.

Everyone thinks their content is better than others and should rank better. Everyone thinks their site has better authority, and should rank better. One post isn't enough, your opinion about it's quality isn't enough. Create ongoing compelling unique content people want to link to. If its something thousands of other sites have already written about, why should Google rank you higher?

Remember, Google is there to serve the user's interests, not yours. Stop chasing Google rankings and start focusing on what your readers need and want.

Try perusing SEO and Content Promotion. It should help you understand some of the broader issues that come into play. And don't forget that one factor is time. Also, I personally learned a lot by reading people's questions and answers right here at TAZ, and it has helped me a lot. I also posted several questions to which I received excellent answers. Also, some of the older posts might also help you get a grip on what you need to know to grow your online presence.

I think part of the problem, all else being equal videos and blogs are considered more authoritative than forums, as such, those results will show up first.

This is why forums must adapt and add blogs for authoritative articles and videos to YouTube with back links to forum articles.

My forum happens to be an adjunct to my web site which also has a blog. The forum was added as a means of trying to encourage interaction.

There are multiple factors which helps to improve search engine ranking, like on-page factors, Content quality and relevant backlinks! because if all the 3 points are perfect then your keywords easily can rank on search engines.

One important things is, always update yourself because Google updates their algorithms time to time, and if not update your website according to Google guidelines then ranking can be effect.

I just purchased a subscription for SEMRUSH this morning and it has brought up A LOT of exceptional info. It's a hundred a month, which is pretty 'painful' to my wallet, but I am starting to see the value in it. Will let you know if my rankings improve dramatically after implementing all this data.

On Bing, DuckDuckGo and IXQuick search engines I am in the top 2 or 3 rankings.
On Google they move me round daily from page 3 to page 6.

I have realized SEO is the lifestyle of a webmaster. And in lifestyle, you use what works for you. Only you.
This is what i do:
Ubersuggest + Keyword****ter+ SEO Content Machine+ KGR*= Long tail keywords that rank in 2-3 Weeks.
All i did in the first few months of my website, is competitor analysis.
  • Analyse the top competitor
  • Pick all his keywords that have search volumes >500 and Keyword difficulty of <50
  • Write good content that will cover all those identified Keywords.
  • Improve your content periodically by adding Keywords you get from Keyword****ter or any other keyword tool you trust.
If you still don't rank, you are doing something wrong. Either:
  • You are writing what you think people will love
  • Or You are writing for users (which is good) and forgetting to write for google bots!
  • Or maybe you have missed some basic website optimization tweaks.
  • Or you just want results so fast...it takes time. Keep submitting your specific links for indexing on google search console.
