Lol.

I was joking about the sandman gone thing. Incase anyone takes me seriously :O.
I didn't take you seriously, I was confirming it was an admin who changed it not a moderator.

I have no idea why a forum administrator would suggest this.

What even.
Don't think it's a bad idea if at least within legal boundary.
But certainly not appropriate for forums like TAZ.
Though should be doable on less or non conformist places.

Maybe doable on a very niche board. Really though, a terrible idea.

Yeah IMO it would have, just asking for trouble. ;)
That was the entire point of the Purge movie: trouble only one day of the year - the rest of the year troublefree.
I sorta loved the concept of it if I'm to be honest. The concept of the movie. Enacted in real life though ==> Anarchy. But anarchy for only a few hours of the year, while the rest of the year is without incident...? Could be interesting anyway... That's what made the movie such a novel concept imo.

Anarchy in a pot, to be opened and closed at your time of choosing is not really the true definition of anarchy. I bet it's a product I could sell on eBay though :D

The Purge stole the idea from the original Star Trek, episode "The Return of the Archons", and the annual "Festival" that took place on the planet.

HA. Very true. Only anarchy for a few hours a year LOL
As for eBay product - does it come in spray can?? :ROFLMAO:

Really?! Allright. Not kewl - but appropriation sometimes is the name of the game.
Kinda makes ya wanna go NetFlix an original ST marathon. Or at least check out The Return of The Archons episode anyway. Don't think I've seen it. But if that's where the Purge movie got the idea - must be a fabulous episode.

That episode wasn't particularly good, actually, lol. The festival wasn't the main focus of the story in the episode, more of a subplot --- but it seems to be a perfect inspiration for the Purge. Violence, sexual inhibitions dropped, etc. happened during the festival - and the episode centered around a "god" who allowed this once a year. All other times, people walked around as near zombies in their compliance with the law.

I don't know why I remembered it... I am not a Star Trek convention goer, I don't collect Star Trek stuff, I don't wear costumes or anything else you'd consider to be "Trekkie".. Sometimes something really odd will stick in my memory. My friends call me the bearer of useless information due to this trait of mine, lol. Oh... I did have to look up the episode name, I don't remember details THAT good!

Perhaps the TAZ annual purge suggestion should be rethought then?
