I use both IPB and vB. I love the ammount of control you get with vB but at the same time users on both my forums have generally prefered IPB. That may be because they are much more used to using IPB forums, but most voted it easier to use for the new user. It also looks much more attractive, though the postbit used in vBulletin fantastic .

Overall I would say on a looks basis and mods basis IPB is great, especially now with beyond IPS opened. The great CMS (not sure if you can buy it yet), the gallery, blog, Converge and other great first party mods are fantastic if you have the money.

vBulletin for complete control though , and the 3rd party stuff.

Our board has been using IPB and we like it a lot. I haven't really used vBulletin before, but I find IPB highly customizable (not sure about vB).

User-friendly would probably be vBulletin by the looks of it, but if you are going to be adding a lot of extra stuff I'd probably use IPB.

Vbulletin without a doubt, IPB just can't top it.

Well, as member/user I find vB and IPB to have pretty much the same features and I really can't see any big difference among the two softwares. So, I'd say that the average internet user would find vB and IPB friendly forum softwares in the same way.

I honestly don't think that IPB can't top it or vice versa. I found both softwares to be the top and I believe it all comes down to personal preference in the end of the days.

vB has large features, using it.
IPB default skin is looking nice but never try it..

I prefer vB!

I always thought that IPB looked a little bit more childish compared to vB. If I was a company there would be no doubt that vB would be my main choice. In fact if I was anyone I would choose vB over IPB, but thats just me .
