You can ask brandon. He will backup your forum and give you the files that you need to port over to IPB. But you will need to pay a fee for this service.

It depends on two things...
1. is there REALLY enough posts/members worth transferring over. Could they quite easily be replaced? 2. Do you trust your members to reregister? If the answer to the first one is yes, contact Brandon at invisionfree's support forums.

you dont even need a full back up for this ... all you need is to get ibf_members,ibf_posts,ibf_polls,ibf_groups,ibf_mem ber_extra,ibf_members,ibf_members_converge,ibf_mes sage_text,ibf_message_topics,ibf_moderator_logs,ib f_moderators etc ,
or get full back up , & get ips to convert it to ipb 2.1 , coz IF is a screwed up version of ipb.

I just got doing this myself! It cost me $35 to get the files from Invision Free. I had about 6500 worth of posts (board was only a month old...but i was sick of shelling out obsene amounts of cash for ad-removal!) Took about 2 days from time of payment, till i got my files. I had my board shut down so we wouldnt lose any posts. The files come to you in an sql file, which you need to know mySQL to transfer them over. or you could fork out some more cash, about $70 to have IF, or IPB do the transfer for you. I didnt even know what mySQL was prior to our move, but with the help of google, and the fine people on message boards posting similar problems, i was able to figure it out! It took me a full day to figure it out, but once I got the hang of it, and how it worked, the transfer took about an hour!
I am on dial up, so highspeed would have been quicker! ![]() Anyhoo......it is complicated, but if you have a firm grasp on how these things work, you can figure it out! Im sure there was once a time we didnt even know what HTML was! LOL It just takes a little patience, and some confidence! I can help you out some if you need it. ![]() GOOD LUCK! Its much better to be on your own and not having to answer to anyone but yourself, and not spending money to benifit no one but THEM and their company! GOODLUCK! ~Angi |

Here's the easiest way to do this . . .
Pay IF for a backup of your db to convert to IPB (the conversion db is different from a normal backup) Purchase an IPS hosting package for a month Have IPS convert your IF database to IPB and install it to the IPS hosting database Make a backup of the newly converted database & transfer it to your hosting provider of choice Cancel your IPS Hosting account IPS will convert IF databases to IPB free for hosting subscribers, after that's done, you no longer need their service. Don't blame me for pointing out this flaw in their business model. They could easily prevent stuff like this by simply charging a small fee for the conversion or only offering a free IF conversion if "x" amount of months are prepaid (and non-refundable). |

IF is so modified that transferring over to IPB from a raw dump basically requires a database conversion to make it compatible with IPB's database structure.
What's sad is that "converted" databases from IF staff still require additional tweaking to make them compatible with IPB. |

Basically, my friend is using the 2.3 version instead of the 1.3 version because he couldn't find it anywhere. So I was wondering if that is the main reason why its not working? If so, can anyone help us out??? PLZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ We have been pathetically working on this for over a month and it hasn't worked out. So any help would be very well appreciated. Thanks in advance.
