That would really annoy someone though, if they right clicked and saved a graphic. Then later opened it to find it was only a 5 by 5 pixel square of the overall image they were trying to swipe. And another for using a transparent .gif overlaying the image. So if someone right clicks it ... they end up saving the .gif file instead. If you're going to invest countless hours into creating something. Might want to spend a few hours ... devoted to learning simple things you can do to protect your work. Just food for thought ... try googling "how to protect images" and variations of that.
Simple protection = easy to bust
Table assembly will be defeated by either 1. Screenshot or 2. Mass Download and manual assembly.

As for transparent overlay, you can just get a load filter such as AdBlock and remove the protecting image.

The best way I've found of protecting an image is to sign it, just place your sig in the image or watermark it over the image, it doesn't stop the theft but it makes it easier to trackdown

P.S Make sure they can't cut the sig out without damaging the image

If someone wants to get around something badly enough ... they can find a way. Just example's of things people who are worried about it could do. If you're going to invest alot of time in creating graphics and want to protect them ... do your research. Sure there's tons of techniques and software to protect image files.

Any protection is better than nothing. More about simple ways to discourage, or make it tougher to swipe your graphics. On the logic, that alot of people wont go through the trouble of finding a way around whatever protection you're using.

Plenty of ways around watermarks too. Once again, ... just a question of making it harder on people to swipe an image. It's easier to find another image, than to go about defeating protections on one. More random food for thought.

Stealing is stealing, and it's definitely not a good idea, as others have said earlier on. Taking the time to learn some of the basics in GIMP or Photoshop isn't too bad, and it's pretty amazing what you can do with some free brushes that are out there.

Alternatively, I found a site that has some very cheap stock images usually from $1 to $5. The site is http://graphicriver.net/ and they've also got a few other sites for things like audio, 3D models, and more.

I think original is always better.

If you are going to use something you found somewhere else, you should at least make an effort to find the original source so you can know more about it.

I have considered it in the past. I have been on websites where you pay for a logo but you get to design it first. Have just pressed print screen instead of paying for the logo. But never used one of those logos as they don't really look very good in comparison to more professional logos.
