Default How is my SEO ~this~ bad?
The main page of my forum doesn't appear on Google... I just don't get it. A little over a year ago the forum changed its domain name, which I know is never good for SEO.

But anyway, just google "bell tree forums" and you'll see the main page of the forum never appears. However, the old domain that redirects to it does.

Anyone know what's going on?

The site is indexed : https://www.google.co.uk/#hl=en&outp...w=1467&bih=688

What type of redirect are you using on the old URL ? , what is the old URL ?

Just because you have a keyword domain it doesnt mean you have the right to be ranking for that word, the site is indexed and if your old domain is still showing up in the index in high positions then i would be looking at a problem with your site in some way or redirect issues.

To add to that , i just had a quick look at the site and indexing , it does appear that your root domain isnt being indexed correctly.

This could be a site config error or a penalisation from google in some way. Or even an internal linking structure issue

I would recommend changing the forum.php to index.php for your forum home and then redirecting the index.php to the root . At the moment the same content is on :

http://www.belltreeforums.com/
http://www.belltreeforums.com/index.php
http://www.belltreeforums.com/forum.php

make sure your non www and www redirects are correct too.

Generate a robots.txt and ensure there is no errors showing in webmaster tools for your sitemap or 404 errors.

I would also be tempted to submit a re-inclusion request to google after fixing the above mentioned incase there is a small penalty inflicted for what ever reason.

Facts :~

1> Your Domain is indexed .SO no need to worry about that.
2> Your forum is not appearing for that specific keyword.
3> You have done no onpage SEO for your forum
4> Write Nice title tag,description tag for your forum with your specific keyword

Notice carefully.Your keyword is already in your forum title and forum domain.Now you need to write a nice description for your forum .

5> Add SEO focused content (right amount of targeted keyword distributed throughout the content) in your forum homepage.You can add it in welcome banner.

There are numerous way to improve your SEO .Just follow the google guideline and also solve the canonical issue .

Also you have no META description or META keywords, You can add them by editing the main head template and adding the following:

HTML Code:
<meta name="description" content="YOUR DESCRIPTION HERE" />
<meta name="keywords" content="YOUR, KEYWORDS, HERE" />

Okay, why does the old domain appear instead of the current one though? See how it says the-bell-tree.com instead of belltreeforums.com even though it's for belltreeforums.com?

The domain just redirects to the new domain. I have it set up that way on the site where I buy my domain names.

Would a 301 redirect be better?

That is no longer important. I don't submit to them anymore yet they all find me fairly quickly

A 301 redirect is best for a permanent redirect.
